Welcome to St.Stephen's Mar Thoma Church, Delhi.

The Delhi St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church in Mayur Vihar is a vibrant community within the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, situated in the Delhi Diocese. Its roots trace back to the ancient tradition dating to 52 AD when Apostle St. Thomas established seven churches in Kerala, India, leading to the formation of the St. Thomas Christians. The current members of this church are direct descendants of these early Christian communities.

The early beginnings of the Mar Thoma Church in Delhi can be traced back to the 1950s, gaining more significant momentum in the 1970s with a notable influx of Mar Thoma Christians from Kerala. Initially, these parishioners were associated with other Mar Thoma churches in Delhi before the establishment of the Delhi St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church, which emerged as an offshoot of the Delhi St. Peter’s Mar Thoma Church.

Formally established on November 1, 2004, and later granted the status of a church on April 15, 2005, the congregation initially conducted its services at Ryan International School in Mayur Vihar Phase-III. The acquisition of a residential flat for the serving vicar in 2006 marked an important milestone for the parish. Subsequently, the church’s growth led to the purchase of land for the construction of its own complex, with the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony taking place on September 12, 2009. Through the dedication and efforts of its members, the church was consecrated on December 17, 2011.

Presently, the parish comprises 121 families and around 350 members, with a legacy of eight vicars serving the community over the years. The church’s official organizations, such as the Karuna Charitable organization, continue to operate efficiently within the parish, reflecting its commitment to serving both its members and the broader community with unwavering devotion and faith.
